Bert Jansch - Bert Jansch

Debut on Transatlantic. As a small kid I couldn't hear properly and then had an operation (Gromets) and was given my Mum's old Dansette mono player and a clutch of her old records including this. It's where my love of the guitar started as a 6 or 7 year old in the conservatory of the house in Eastwood Road Sittingbourne. Became an obsessive record collector from that moment. Mum never got this back ;-)

"Needle of Death" I was fascinated with, which is probably not normal for a small kid to to be intrigued by a song about the horrors of Heroin Addiction.

Many years later with my band Ocelot we saw him play in Rickmansworth and someone in the crowd called out for that song.

Bert just shrugged and deadpanned: "I've not come all the way to Hertfordshire to sing a song about Heroin!"

I swa him play a few times on his own and memorably for a Pentangle reuinion at Festival Hall.
