John Major had not long got in and Dame Shirley Porter was about to be exposed for Gerrymandering votes in Westminster. The funeral march was hummed by staff in the corridors. No mobile phones. I was to-ing and fro-ing between Kent, Sussex and London (aged 19) and trying to make sense of my life and where I wanted to be (London).
